The central theme of the Academy is the spirit of 'gambatte.' Translated from Japanese, the verb form means to persist, put in your full effort, and never give up. By cutting a hole through the report which leads to the image of 'gambatte' the central theme of the school becomes something memorable. This hole also suggests the open environment of the school. I worked with the writer at Pacific Rim, art directed the photography and lead the entire design process.
